2009 Assessment Appeal Procedure
- If after viewing or calculating your 2009 assessed value, you feel the assessment
is not indicative of the value of your property, call your Township Assessor .pdf.
- If after speaking with the assessor, you still feel the assessment is not correct, you may file a complaint with the DeKalb County Board of Review. The complaint forms are available in the Chief County Assessment Office, 110 E Sycamore St, Sycamore (phone 815-895-7120) or on the County website, www.dekalbcounty.org.
- It is most important that you carefully read the Rules of the
Board of Review. .pdf. The complaint forms must be complete and evidence must be filed in triplicate. If filing a complaint form from the website, it must be submitted in triplicate, also.
- All complaint forms are due in the County Assessment Office by 4:30 p.m. 30 days from the date of publication or postmarked on the due date.
Filing deadline: DeKalb Township – December 28, 2009
Filing deadlines for all other townships have expired.
-
After receipt of your complaint, a hearing will be scheduled for you with the Board of Review. The hearing will be held on the fourth floor of the Administration Building at 110 E Sycamore St, Sycamore. At that time you will be able to present your reasons for your requested change in assessment. (See the Board of Review rules.)
- One change in appointment time will be accepted.
- If you are unable to attend the hearing, you may request the Board of Review to review your evidence and make a decision without a hearing.
- All decisions will be mailed after all hearings are completed for the 2009 assessment year.
