The Chief County Assessment Officer
has several functions as set by statute. The Officer supervises township
assessors in making uniform assessments on real estate, equalizes assessments by

The Chief County Assessment Officer coordinates the assessor’s activities;
prepares, maintains, and updates the cadastral maps for the County by recorded
documents; reviews, revises, and makes assessment corrections as shall appear to
be just; calculates and applies equalization factors for all townships; yearly
publishes assessment changes for each township and publishes all assessments in
a general reassessment year (quadrennial year); maintains all assessment
exemption information; and maintains ownership records for all property in the
County.
