Executive Director's Message

Home

Dear Friends:

While the mission of DeKalb County Community Services Department (DCCSD) is very simple, to eliminate the causes and effects of poverty, the fulfillment of that mission is certainly not simple at all.  The task of eliminating poverty is very complex indeed. DCCSD works to fight poverty on two levels.  We fight poverty one family at a time by giving families the tools to become self-sufficient.  We also work to eliminate the root causes of poverty in our community.

Most clients first enter our doors through the Emergency Intervention Program.  They are in financial crisis and are usually facing or experiencing homelessness.  DCCSD works to not only alleviate the crisis, but to prevent the crisis from reoccurring.  In the Family Development Program we can support a family throughout their journey to self-sufficiency.

DCCSD has been embarking on a program to look not only at the services we offer, but also at the results or outcomes we produce. Just offering a service is not enough. We want to know that we have changed lives and this community for the better.

At DCCSD we are always looking for suggestions to improve our services. Your comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome.     letter icon Email me at: mramp@dekalbcounty.org

Sincerely,
