Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-housing Program
This grant is part of the Stimulus ARRA funds of 2009. This program provides rental assistance, utility assistance and supportive services directly related to the prevention of homelessness to eligible individuals and families who are in danger of eviction, foreclosure or homelessness or are currently homeless.
Community Services Block Grant Stimulus Funds (ARRA)
These funds are used to help low-income families in DeKalb County. This is a one-time award that ends September 30, 2010. Families must fall below 200% of the federal poverty income guidelines.The programs offered through this grant are:
- Revolving Loan- CSBG Loan Program to a small business to create two jobs for a CSBG eligible individual.
- Computer Literacy- Provide basic computer literacy classes at the Illinois WorkNet Center targeting Unemployed persons.
- Job Readiness- Assist CSBG eligible families to overcome their barriers to employment.
- GED Assistance- Provide assistance to students who have completed classes to prepare for GED testing, but need assistance to pay the testing fee.
- Scholarship Program- Provide scholarships for CSBG eligible persons for post secondary education.
- Emergency Intervention- Emergency assistance for families who are receiving an unforeseen financial emergency, which puts the family in jeopardy of homelessness.
- Veterans Benefit Enrollment- Provide comprehensive assessment, information, advocacy and referral services to CSBG eligible veterans.
- School Physicals- Provide school physicals for CSBG eligible children who have no other payment assistance.
- Health Care- Provide health, vision, and dental care for CSBG eligible persons.
