|

criteria in making decisions concerning applicants and employees.
Criterion such as age, sex, national origin, race, marital status,
religious, sexual, or political preference, or physical handicaps shall
not be a consideration in personnel decisions for a particular position
except where age, sex, or specific physical ability constitutes a bonafide
occupational qualification.

Recruitment and Selection |
13.3.1
|
The paramount objective relative to recruitment and
selection has been, and will continue to be, to employ and /or promote
persons deemed to be well-qualified for the job in question; and at the
same time, insure that all candidates are evaluated without regard to age,
marital status, sex, religious affiliation, handicap or any other
artificial barrier. The approach taken in attempting to increase
minority and female representation in all job categories has not been one
that involved the lowering of qualifications to increase such
representation, but rather has been one which saw the answer to be in
recruiting efforts specifically designed to attract applicants from
under-represented groups.

13.3.2
|
Whenever positions are advertised in local newspapers or
professional journals, the advertisement shall indicate that the County is
an equal opportunity employer.
(Revised 11-21-84) |
| 13.4.0 |
Promotion |
| 13.4.1 |
It is the policy of DeKalb County to promote persons deemed
to be well qualified for the job in questions, regardless of their age,
race, marital status, sex, religious affiliation, handicap, or any other
artificial barrier.
