THE RACE:
The Sunrise Rotary 8K
Run is a great race to start out your racing season. The race starts
and ends at the newly constructed shelter house in the Potawatomi
Woods Forest Preserve. The course proceeds on the flat roads of
Franklin Township and the Village of Kirkland and should provide
runners with fast times. Proceeds from this event will be used for
future improvements in the Forest Preserve and for other community
service projects of The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary.
THE COURSE
The race starts at the
newly constructed shelter house in Potawatomi Woods. Proceed out of
the forest preserve to Kirkland Road. North on Kirkland to Scout Road.
East on Scout to Pearl Street. South on Pearl to North Street. West
on North Street to Kirkland Road. North on Kirkland to the Forest
Preserve entrance. The race ends in the Forest Preserve near the
shelter house. DeKalb County Sheriff's Auxiliary and race volunteers
will be on hand to direct racers and control traffic. ATEC Ambulance
will be on site to provide any needed medical assistance. Water will
be offered at the start, finish and on the course. Mile split times
will be given at each mile. This event is a USATF-Sanctioned event and
the course USATF-Certified.

Online race registration will be available at
www.signmeupsports.com. Mail registration is available by
downloading the race registration form and mailing to 240 E. Lincoln
Hwy, DeKalb Illinois 60115. Mail in registration forms must be
postmarked no later than May 10, 2008. Race Day Registration and
Packet Pick will be available at the shelter house in Potawatomi Woods
6:30 am - 7:45 am on race day. Pre-registered runners will be
guaranteed a custom designed race T-Shirt. Race day registrants will
receive a T-shirt while supplies last.

$19.00 before May 1, 2008
$24.00 May 1 - May 16, 2008
$25.00 Race Day
AWARDS and RESULTS
Awards will be given to
the top three male and female runners in the following age divisions:
14 & Under; 15-19; 20-24;25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54;
55-59;60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75+. Race results will be posted at
www.kishrotary.org. Race
Results will also be printed in The Daily Chronicle.

POST RACE:
Refreshments will be
served to all runners at the post race party to be held in the shelter
house after the race. Representatives from Northern Rehabilitation
and Sports Medicine will be available for post race stretching
sessions. Therapists from Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation &
Sports Medicine will also be on hand for consultations and training
advice.
PARKING and DIRECTIONS
Parking will be
available on race day in the forest preserve. Race volunteers will
direct you once you enter the forest preserve. Potawatomi Woods is
located on Kirkland Road 1/4 mile north of Route 72 in Kirkland
Illinois.
