–The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) today announced an $11.9 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) investment to help bridge the technological divide, boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve education and health care in DeKalb County and portions of LaSalle County, Illinois.
NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), funded by the Recovery Act, provides grants to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, enhance and expand public computer centers, and encourage sustainable adoption of broadband service. http://www.ntia.doc.gov/press/2010/BTOPGrants_IL_100219.html 2/19/2010

- "The Illinois Environmental Protection Act provides that any person may file written comment with the DeKalb County Board concerning the appropriateness of the proposed site for its intended purpose. The DeKalb County Board shall consider any comment received or postmarked not later than 30 days after the date of the last public hearing. Written comments submitted to the DeKalb County Board within 30 days of the final public hearing shall be made a part of the record of proceedings in this matter and will be considered by the County Board in making its decision.
