PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Christel Springmire, Solid Waste Program Coordinator, demonstrates use of the "Event Recyclers".The DeKalb County Solid Waste Management Program is introducing a new program for DeKalb County

 non-for-profit groups providing an opportunity to earn additional money at fund raising events.

 

 

           “Event Recyclers are now

available through the DeKalb County Health

 

Department on a loan basis”, states

            “ The Event Recyclers consist of a

 

frame with clear plastic bags, which can be used at festivals and fund raising events, to collect recyclable cans and plastic bottles.  They are easy to transport and assemble”.

 

The recyclables collected can be turned in for cash earning the organization

 

additional money.  “The collection also supports the goal of the County’s Solid Waste

 

Program to reduce the trash sent to the county’s landfill”, adds Springmire.  

 

Non-for-profit groups can contact Springmire at 815-748-2408 to reserve and

 

check out the “Event Recyclers”.  Details for picking up and checking out the containers

 

and information as to where recyclables can be redeemed for cash will be provided when

 

reserving the containers.
