The meeting started at 7:00 with
President Rich Joslin calling the meeting to order. We had 7 members in
attendance. David Frazier was at the meeting with his wife Bobbie. David
represents the Legion Post in Sandwich.
The minutes of the previous meeting
were handed out and read. Mike Boorsma made the motion to accept the minutes
and this was seconded by Frank Beierlotzer. The minutes were approved.
John Davis gave the finance report
and we have $1667.57 in the bank. Steve Walz seconded the report and the report
was approved.
Herb Holderman gave us a written
report on veteran’s legislation.
The superintendent’s report was
given, and the new building has been started. We are now giving out to needy
veterans gift certificates from Aldi's because they can be used in $25
increments. Mike Boorsma made the motion to pay the expenditures and this was
seconded by David Frazier. The motion was approved.
John Duback will once again
coordinate the DeKalb County Vet Fair.
Frank Beierlotzer handed out his
agenda for the Northern Illinois Veterans activities committee and explained
what was pertinent. Frank also questioned the practice of moving the meetings
around to different parts of the county. It was agreed that for the present
time we would continue to move the meetings to encompass the entire county.
Linda Drake reported that she is
having a problem with the County Health department because they want her to man
the switch board four hours a month and for 15 minutes breaks. Because of this
she will not be able to work on a timely basis with the veteran community and
handle their calls. A letter will be drafted and signed by the President,
Vice-president and the secretary of the veteran’s assistance commission to limit
her time at the main switch board.
Frank Beierlotzer made the motion
to adjourn and this was seconded by Mike Boorsma.
Respectfully Submitted.
