 COUNTY BOARD  –The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) today announced an $11.9 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) investment to help bridge the technological divide, boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve education and health care in DeKalb County and portions of LaSalle County, Illinois.

NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), funded by the Recovery Act, provides grants to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, enhance and expand public computer centers, and encourage sustainable adoption of broadband service. http://www.ntia.doc.gov/press/2010/BTOPGrants_IL_100219.html  2/19/2010

• Prescription Drug Discount Card [December 1, 2005]-DeKaIb County, Illinois, today launched a discount card program to help consumers cope with the high price of prescription drugs. The county is making free prescription drug discount cards available under a program sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACo) that offers average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs.
